I received an advanced copy for an honest review and Wow!! I could not put it down!! As I read deep into the pages, I saw part of me in Roxie. I have been married three times. Divorced twice. Twice in two years. I always feel that it somehow defines me. And that hurts. I have always resonated with the woman at the well. Allison, you brought this story, her story, to life in a modern day setting. You made her real and relatable. I didn't see a prostitute. I saw myself. And I needed the reminder that God uses our stories to help others. Thank you for breathing life into one of my favorite chapters in the Bible. Beautiful story adaptation of the Bible’s woman at the well. The story is very engaging, and I finished the book quickly because I had to know what happened next to the main character, Roxie.

I finished this book in a day and a half. I would have finished it in one sitting but life got in the way and dinner needed to be made.
There was that one moment that I started crying and it was not a pretty picture. It just shows how invested in the story and the characters I was. This is a recommended read!
Roxie really did not aim to marriage as many times as she did. She just found herself being deceived by some of the men. Yet, when she took her blinders off, she realized the truth. Luckily, Roxie has good friends who had her back. Each time Roxie did come out stronger and wiser.
Now, some readers may be discouraged to check out this book due to it being a modern retelling of the Woman at the Well a story form the New Testament but they should not be. I didn't know what to expect when I started this book but I was completely floored by it.
The author's narrative style was amazing. The story captivating and the characters real.
This is the first modern retelling of the woman at the well who met with Jesus and it was touching, heartwarming, and very inspiring. Reading how it would have happened in our modern times was simply amazing.
Roxie's story was so heart wrenching but I was so happy to see the redemption that came as a reason of God's redemptive power.

I think a lot of us, not having all the facts, may have misjudged her. So it is with Roxie, the young woman we meet in this book. Longing to be loved for who she is, Roxie meets and marries five different men. The end of each marriage just adds to Roxie's view that there must be something wrong with her. And the lies and judgement of those in her world just keep piling on. But each relationship teaches her a little more about herself and the world, and she grows a little more. It takes meetimg a wise man to help her see that she is loved beyond measure by the One who really counts. I loved Roxie, who continued to love in spite of her heartbreak. The author poignantly show us her gradual growth through the story. The characters are real, not sugar coated. They give us a glimpse into the hearts of people who don't always make the right choices, even when they're following their heart. And how easy it is sometimes to find forgiveness for others while failing to find it for ourselves, until we meet the One who shows us how. I received a copy of this book as part of a launch team.
